The Spatial Solutions Metadata Tools provide a single environment for browsing, displaying and editing metadata. The tools can be used independently of other GIS software, and can also integrate with ArcCatalog.
Note: The Metadata Editor cannot be configured for use within the latest version of ArcGIS software (version 10). This is due to ESRI discontinuing support for customised metadata style sheets in ArcGIS 10.

The Metadata Browser allows users to browse through folders and display neatly formatted metadata for a range of spatial and non-spatial files. It provides an alternative metadata browsing experience for users who do not have access to ArcCatalog. |

The Metadata Editor allows editing of metadata from within the Spatial Solutions Metadata Browser, and also functions as an alternative metadata editor for ArcCatalog. The Spatial Solutions editor delivers the following productivity improvements:
- Single tool editing of common metadata fields, including attribute descriptions and source
- Quality checks for metadata completeness
- Support for ANZLIC Metadata Profile 1.1 fields within ESRI’s Metadata XML format
- Metadata export to other applications for spell checking and review
Spatial Solutions has experienced a greater than 200% gain in efficiency when using the Metadata Editor to enter, edit and check metadata*. Additionally, we have found the editor facilitates better quality metadata through its automated quality checks.
*Gains are based on measured trials of Spatial Solutions employee workflows, and may not be representative of general users.
